7th May - Extreme Coastal Beach Clean - Newhaven Fort Beach

We will be there from early morning till early evening all day, Saturday the 7th of May on this large and interesting stretch of our incredible coastline beneath the cliffs...... beneath the Newhaven Fort! This is a community collaborative beach clean organised in conjunction with the great SkoolieStays crew.... check their cool yellow school bus alternative holiday accommodation located up upon the hills above the town of Eastbourne!

The BHASSEXPLORE collective #greensockmovement volunteers will be taking advantage of the morning low tide and getting out onto the wilder reaches of this beautiful coastscape and venturing out onto the seaweed festooned exposed tidal zone and seabed! Here we will do our best to remove as much plastic and synthetic materials that lay trapped there.... entangled in the slippery and very uneven chalk and flint ruts and ridges.... ensnared in the rock pools and beneath the shingle and sands! We will be out on this furthest part of this coast trying to find and permanently remove these nasty harmful materials before they potentially hurt or kill marine life and birds! These materials persist in our seas and oceans for thousands upon thousands of years.... slowly breaking down into ever smaller pieces but never fully going away unless we remove them! So... if this kind of activity interests you.... come and join us from 8.ooam onwards.... wear good solid grippy footwear... it is double slippery and very trippy out on the rocks... access the situation and concentrate on your footing.... this kind of environmental activity comes with its risks and each individual must assess and decide for themselves how beat to proceed ..... we always work in pairs or small groups to look out for and support each other... we suggest that you do the same!

For those who dont feel comfortable on the rocks.... there are flat grassy areas and grassy slumps and hillocks beneath the cliffs that are full of plastic trash and other litter... these need a dedicated effort to clear up...... and the vast shingle beach is also covered in all manner of plastic and synthetic material objects that need picking up and bagging.... alongside all around the parking areas.... so.... something for everyone! All in one place! So pack a picnic and gather some friends and family and come and join us or just come and say hello and see just what we have gathered and just what is in our seas and on our coastline! To find out more please either visit www.bhassexplore.com or our Facebook page or @bhass_explore on Instagram and share these posters and message with any groups or individuals who share our concerns about the environment and who may wish to attend! All we need is good weather and great people with positive energy and we can all make a massive difference! Thank you!
